It was a chilly Manchester day when we photographed our cover stars for this issue of Pink Science, but nothing could wipe the smiles of these fundraisers’ faces. Breast Cancer Campaign’s supporter magazine has optimism running through its core, reflecting the charity’s goal to find a cure, and the dedication scientists, volunteers and fundraisers devote to playing their part in this fantastic cause.
Pink Science brings smiles all round
In search of Pong
We love a good challenge at Northstar, but tracking down an original, 40-year-old Pong cabinet (that famous digitised ping-pong game) for a story in Audi Magazine was a bit harder than expected. After ringing up museums and shops around the country, the recurring response was: ‘You’ll never find one.’ But we didn’t believe that. Luckily, we were pointed towards some forums, and a few weeks later – after some desperate pleas for help and lots of emailing – we had an original, as-new Pong cabinet in a London studio. Now, where’s that Loch Ness Monster…
Down by the riverside with Crew Life
With all eyes turning to London this year for the Olympics, the latest update to Crew Life celebrates the Thames. There’s lots of messing about in boats, interviews with Olympic champions, beautiful places to stay, and some top tips on how to make that British classic, fish and chips, from renowned chef Mitch Tonks.
Go Ape brings the outdoors indoors
Sometimes our clients ask us to make magazines – and sometimes they ask us to make vast banners to hang 50 feet up in the air. Go Ape are always looking for adventure, so when they asked us to come up with a creative concept for some experiential marketing they were doing at this weekend’s Outdoors Show, we jumped (sorry) at the chance. The result is Zip 500 – The World’s Longest Indoor Zip-Wire. We created banners, hoardings, a mobiliser, floor tiles, stickers and even a golf sign, all to drive people to Go Ape’s stand and to engage show visitors in the brand and Go Ape’s 2012 activities.
Watches of Switzerland insert
We felt very proud to see a piece of Northstar work in last week’s Saturday edition of The Times. ‘Chance Your Arm’ was produced on behalf of our client Watches of Switzerland, the luxury watch retailer, and inserted into 200,000 copies of the paper in strategic areas. Far too early to measure results, but the product looked superb, showcasing our industry-leading original watch photography.
