Our clients have been relying on us to produce quality magazines brimming with great content for years and over time we’ve also been tasked with lending our skills to other platforms – content is king, whether in print, online or on mobile and tablet. As guardians of their brand, we were asked by Watches of Switzerland to generate the content for their groundbreaking new website, which we update with regular fresh content. Our feature on mechanical watches programmed to take into account leap years went live this week. Since launch, the site has enjoyed a 576 per cent uplift in time spent on the site, proof of the power of great editorial. Experience the site for yourself here.
A giant leap with Watches of Switzerland
Four Audis, four corners of the earth
The latest issue of Audi Magazine is the 50th edition since the magazine began back in 1984. It’s also Northstar’s most ambitious since we took over the magazine in 2007: the challenge was to celebrate quattro, Audi’s all-wheel-drive system. Our big idea was to drive four Audi quattros to the four corners of the earth, across snow, desert, Tarmac and gravel. The result is a 45-page travel extravaganza, as well as extra content for iPad, social media and direct marketing.
Alfa magazine moves in celebrity circles
The super-bright cover on the new issue of Alfa Magazine has been one of the highlights of our week. Featuring a neon-filled night drive of the Alfa Giulietta through the streets of Paris, the magazine also includes an exclusive interview with Alfa ambassador, heptathlete, and Olympic medallist Kelly Sotherton. Written by the Guardian’s award-winning sports writer Donald McRae, it’s the compelling read that adds the perfect finish to a beautiful magazine.
Alfa magazine gets mailed quarterly to Alfa Romeo owners across the UK.
Pink Science brings smiles all round
It was a chilly Manchester day when we photographed our cover stars for this issue of Pink Science, but nothing could wipe the smiles of these fundraisers’ faces. Breast Cancer Campaign’s supporter magazine has optimism running through its core, reflecting the charity’s goal to find a cure, and the dedication scientists, volunteers and fundraisers devote to playing their part in this fantastic cause.
In search of Pong
We love a good challenge at Northstar, but tracking down an original, 40-year-old Pong cabinet (that famous digitised ping-pong game) for a story in Audi Magazine was a bit harder than expected. After ringing up museums and shops around the country, the recurring response was: ‘You’ll never find one.’ But we didn’t believe that. Luckily, we were pointed towards some forums, and a few weeks later – after some desperate pleas for help and lots of emailing – we had an original, as-new Pong cabinet in a London studio. Now, where’s that Loch Ness Monster… To find out why we were tracking down a Pong cabinet, read the Spring issue of Audi Magazine out in February.
